All-Inclusive Digital Search Solution Launched By EBSCO Information Services and The New York Public Library

~ EBSCO Discovery Service™ Will Enable Patrons to Seamlessly Access a Spectrum of E-Resources Through a Single Search Function, Improving Information Discovery and Patron Experience ~

IPSWICH, Mass., and NEW YORK — Mar. 5, 2025 —Today, The New York Public Library and EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) are announcing that EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), also known at the Library as Article Plus, is now available. EDS is an all-inclusive search solution that connects the Library’s patrons to its e-resources, including databases, e-books, online magazines, and journals through a single search box located on the Library’s newly redesigned Online Resources and Databases webpage.

The Library provides access to over 500 databases. These online collections contain a range of resources that are essential to learning and information discovery for patrons and researchers alike. EDS provides an improved way to identify and access the many items within these collections by searching across them with a single search. Patrons can now efficiently find the resources and results to support their research and learning.

“I’m delighted to announce the launch of EDS. With its implementation, we will enhance how users discover materials, whether they are looking for e-books, online journals, scholarly resources or other formats,” said Denise Hibay, Astor Director for Collections and Research Services at The New York Public Library. “This powerful search solution supports a user-friendly exploration of our rich online resources collection.”

“EDS aggregates resources from diverse sources, creating a streamlined, one-stop search solution that supports learning, research, and exploration across NYPL's e-collections,” said Tim Lull, EBSCO Senior Vice President, Discovery, User Experience and Platform Services. “This collaboration enables NYPL to offer a more powerful search tool to enrich all users' library experience.”
